Because of the different ways people with ASD think, seemingly simple tasks can be extraordinarily difficult to process. Such tasks include, but are not limited to:
-Struggles with organizing self on paper, i.e. where to start or what to write
- -Challenges in organizing thoughts or performing multi-step tasks
- -Difficulty finishing or turning in work
- -Managing homework and due dates is often difficult
- -May be explosive and/or easily frustrated
- -Either unable to generalize or overly generalizes skills
- -Can be impulsive, hyperactive, or exhibit a short attention span for items that aren’t of interest
- -Being quiet or waiting can be hard
- -Difficulty working independently without bothering others
- -Perfectionism; accepting help or correction can be hard
- -Trouble following lectures and verbally-based instruction
